Flat Iron Experts Review

Picture 52

I was so happy and basically elated when Flat Iron Experts sent me their products. I was expecting a styling tool but when I opened the box, there was much more! Inside I found:

-Cortex Solo 450 Jet Black Titanium Flat Iron / Hair Straightener (1")

-KQC Thermal Shine Spray

-Flat Iron Experts Iron Holder

-Macademia Natural Oil Rejuvinating Shampoo

I have done a before picture for you all so that you can see what my hair looks like right out of the shower with nothing done to it:

Picture 64

As you can see my hair is pretty much wavy/curly. That is when this flat iron that they sent me is going to come in handy. I also did an introductory video which you can watch here. It just shows you the products that were given to me minus the holder for the straight iron. It also lets you see my hair a little better than this picture.

Once I straightened my hair and used the Thermal Shine product this was my result:

Picture 77I love when my hair is silky and straight. My hubs also loves it when I wear it down. Unless I were to put tons of product in my hair while it was curly would it be worthwhile. This straightener literally took me 10 minutes to get my hair from curly to straight, which is perfect with having two little ones. I give this straightening iron to thumbs up and I am sure i has my hubs approval too...now that I will be wearing my hair down more!

Marriage Caper Review

Synopsis:

Andre de Laurent is the second son of an extremely wealthy family, which basically means he'll always be number two. That is, until his mother's uncle dies and leaves him a multi-billion-dollar fortune. So what's the trouble? Andre has sixty days to take a wife, and he'll have to remain married for one year or forfeit the inheritance to distant relatives--who are hell-bent on claiming the inheritance as their own.

Aspiring actress Tasha Gordon has never wanted anything quite so much as that big break--until she met Andre de Laurent. Could his offer turn out to be the role of lifetime?

Review:

I absolutely fell in love with this Cinderella like tale. I couldn't get enough and was curled up in my chair with my blanket and hot chocolate(still!) and could not be lifted out of my reading coma. Andre and Tasha's story had me in knots and happy and just plain wanting everything to work out. They had a lot going against them and so it was easy to get sucked in to this book. I recommend it as a great indulgence book when you have nothing else to do because you will NOT want to put this down!

Potty Cover Review

We all know that we can find public bathrooms to be disgusting. Now when our children have to use the toilet outside of the home, they are way more susceptible to germs. Little kids also like to touch everything. My son is always having to lean on the seat when having to use the restroom to go poo. It freaks me out that he is putting his hands on that germy toilet seat and I can not use enough soap and hand sanitizer to keep my mind at ease that he won't catch something....anything! That's where Potty Cover comes in great handy and it is easy to stick in a bag when you go out.

Potty cover has got you covered with my phobia because not only does it cover the seat but it covers the sides as well. I am very pleased with the products and the coverage that they provide! They are such a small company right only a few select stores offer them in certain areas. You can check out the full listing here and see if there is a store near you. Other than that you can get them off of these websites below:

Amazon/Ebay/Bed Bath and Beyond/buybuyBaby

Also make sure that you follow this fabulous company on their websites:

Website/Facebook/Twitter

This item is great for children, but my hubs and I are also germ-a-phobs when it comes to public restrooms so I am sure that we will be buying these for ourselves as well instead of trusting the ones already in the store!

Disclosure: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Endless by Tawdra Kandle (King, #4) Review

Synopsis:

After the tumult of her high school senior year, all is right in Tasmyn Vaughan’s world. She’s attending college with her boyfriend, and she’s learning to control her powers. Everything is finally perfect, until it isn’t.
When her new part-time job leads to more than she bargained for, she is thrown into a deadly fight against forces of evil that she didn’t even know existed. Mastering her extraordinary gifts—along with the strength of an endless love—may be the only weapon that can guarantee her a happily ever after.

Review:

I am absolutely in love with the King Series. I have read the first one, Fearless, but no others. I actually didn't realize that this was the last one until I went to do this review. I am so sad that she wrapped everything up in this book and that there will be no more tales of Tasmyn and her journey of finding herself. I love that the relationship that she has with her boyfriend in this book is not forced. It is like an every day romance that you don't get caught up thinking, "why is every guy not like this?"  The ending of this one is not predictable at all to say the least. I will have to go back and read the other two now and catch up on a couple things that I missed for sure! If you have not read any of the books and this one finds it's way into your hands, don't hesitate to go ahead and read it. There are parts that flash to others but you would definitely still understand what was going on in the story. Overall, I loved the book and the flow that it had! Like I said, I can not believe that this series will be done (once I read the other two in the middle)!

About the Author:

Tawdra Kandle is the author of the King series, a young adult urban fantasy quartet. Born in south Jersey, Tawdra published her first short story at the age of 13 in Young Life magazine. During the early years of her marriage and motherhood, she wrote articles and columns on parenting and homeschooling, as well as some homeschooling curriculum. FEARLESS is her first novel. Cookies and Cream Hershey Kisses Review

Oh my gosh! I am in heaven. I think I really have died and gone to heaven. When at the grocery store yesterday, all I could think about is how badly I wanted to be out of there and at home on my couch reading my Kindle. Awful, I know! My hubs and son were in the candy aisle and I proceeded to speed down the rest with my daughter (like we were in a Nascar race with a cart) to get everything else that I could possibly think we needed.

We get home and my hubs and son are eating a pre-dinner snack, as they call it, while I am making pasta for dinner. Everyone was starving, so it is a wonder we got out of the WalMart as cheaply as we did. It was an awful night last night, and we were up until about midnight. Needless to say, today has been a very long day already with me home with the two kids while the hubs is at work.

I go scavenging for something to snack on, anything.....

Because I know if I make a full blown lunch that my son will just want me to make him something too (he has just eaten). One of my fav candies of all times is the Cookies and Cream Hersheys bar. I love white chocolate and it is the perfect melt in your mouth candy that has white chocolate with the chocolate cookies pieces left over when it is done melting.

In my scavenging, I found out that the hubs candy of choice was Cookies and Cream candy. But not just the candy bar....KISSES! I had no idea they made these and now as I am sitting here sucking on one and letting it melt down to the cookies, I am in heaven. Like I said, hands down best flavor on a white chocolate candy that I have ever tasted.

These little candies have become an obsession for me over the passed ten minutes. Let's just hope that there are some left for hubs when he gets home from work. He thought he  could hide them from me...but I found them! Oh, how I love you little cookies and cream kisses <3

Nuby Easy Clean™ Soap Dispensing Brush Review

I have had a Nuby sterilizing brush in the past, but it was nothing like this one! I love the fact that you put the dishsoap inside the handle and it dispenses right into the bottle in suds. I hated having to squirt a new little bit of dishwashing soap into every bottle that I was washing to ensure that it was in fact getting clean. This takes care of that!

Picture 62

The brush is good size and at first I was scared that it would not fit into my little ones 4 ounce bottles. I was so wrong!

Picture 60

The bristles become compact fitting even into the smallest of bottles. The dispenser button as shown in the first picture is what allows you to pump as little or as much dish soap into the bottle to form the suds. This brush even does a great job cleaning the outside of bottles as well. The only thing that I honestly did not like about this was that no where was there a nipple brush. I had to keep my old nipple brush from my former Nuby brush. I love that there is a suction cup on the bottom of the brush that holds it in place even on my old sink.

I hate trying to stand the brush up in the dish drain when there is not one of these suction cups. Germs are everywhere around the kitchen whether you think so or not, so to have this feature was a definite plus! Overall, I give this product two thumbs up because of it's ease of cleaning power and the ability to use less soap than having to put it in the bottle every time. If you feel like you are wasting soap washing your little one's bottles, you should definitely pick one of these up for yourself.

Nuby Teething Blankie Review

I am so impressed with the Teething Blankie from Nuby. My daughter was so afraid of the crinkle noise when she was just a couple months old that I was at first afraid to her play with this one. Turns out she loves it! I was given the chance to have the one with the lion on it, and the fact that it is like a blanket means that my daughter can rub it together and it one makes a noise and two has a cool texture. This is a picture of all of the choices you would have if you were to get one of these teething blankies for yourself.

Another great feature of the teething blankie is of course that it has the edges with teething surfaces. My daughter being six months old is wanting to put EVERYTHING in her mouth and try it out. She is going to be cutting teeth very soon and so this product is perfect. One thing that we did not know that it did until my daughter accidently found it was that it squeaks when you press the animal in the center. It half scared her to death the first time that she did it but now that she knows it is there, it is a favorite of hers to play with while spending time on the floor or in her chair with this blankie.

Image03222013111154

Here is a picture of my precious little one with the blankie in tow as she plays in her chair. She is just smiling away and happy that she has a toy that she can chew on and that makes noises. It will become a favorite in your home with your little one as well!

TruKid Baby Lotion and Sunny Days Sunscreen Review and Giveaway (Ends 4/11)

I was given the chance by TruKid to try out a couple of their products. The two were the Sweet Baby lotion, which is newer to their line, and the Sunny Days Sunscreen Stick SPF 30. Both are great products and I was happy to get them because as it starts to get sunnier out my son will need all the protection he can get! As you all may know, I have two children. One aged 4 and the other 6 months. These products fell in both of their age groups. I have a video that I want to share with you all of my thoughts about the two products.

Watch my video review HERE!

The Sunny Days is an Award winner and also, non-toxic, nano-free, reef-friendly, UVB/UVA protection with a mineral based formula that contains organic ingredients and no artificial coloring, fragrance, or toxins. It is easy to carry around with you if you ever need to throw it in a beach bag or a purse. You can check out the award for this awesome little stick at http://www.redtri.com/awards/.

With the baby lotion, it is hard to find one that you know will not irritate your child's skin. My daughter has a hard time with any lotions other than Desitin and I was getting tired of getting my hands dirty applying that every time she had some dry skin. It is great for diaper rash don't get me wrong, but everything else was just making her skin get irritated besides that. Until TruKid came in the mail, and I used it on her. It has a wonderful fragrance and it is not harsh on her skin.

The Sweet Baby lotion is all natural and mineral based. It has organic ingredients, is chemical-free, sulfate free, paraben-free, and gluten free. This lotion works on babies and bigger children. My son has cracked feet from where his shoes rub sometimes, and I put it to the test there. It was gentle enough to put on his feet without having to rub too hard and it took care of his rough skin.

About Lola

Lola JamesLola James has been reading romance novels since her teens, and fell in love with the paranormal after discovering Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Her love of the dark worlds of vampires and witches, as well as her fascination with Greek mythology led her to create the Spellbound Series, an ongoing Paranormal Romance combining all of the above into tales of suspense with a little bit of humor in an Urban Fantasy setting.

A long time lover of reading and writing with a passion for a great story, James became discouraged by the complicated and arbitrary publishing process, James had initially set down her laptop and her hopes of being a writer. However, with the purchase of her first e-reader, James became re-energized by the new possibilities for an undiscovered author to reach the masses. Dusting off her keyboard she finally finished Bound to Remember, the first book of the Spellbound Series and self-published it. Energized and ambitious, James is now hard at work on both the Spellbound Series as well as the Fate Series, a paranormal romance about dreams and what happens if they come true.

Starlooks February Box

I had never gotten a Starlooks box before. I had the opportunity to try out the Lauren Clark box from February. I have to admit, I wear makeup, but I am more of a nudes type of gal. When I opened the box and everything was pink, I was not quite sure how these would go with my skin tone.Picture 53

This is what the box looked like when I got it and it was something to behold. I have always bought my makeup at the drugstore and so now that I was looking at a special edition Lauren Clark Starlooks box, I was ecstatic. The monthly subscription  is $15, but as you can see in the picture below, this was one is retailed at $41 worth of products. You really are getting your money worth even with the $1.98 shipping.

Picture 54

The first thing that I pulled out was the Infinity Liner. I had never seen anything quite like it. It is waterproof and can be used on the top or bottom lid to give you an extra pop of color underneath your shadow or can be used as a full base by itself. If you were to use a silver eye shadow you could just put this in the corners to give an accent of color. It is a very versatile product that I can see myself using a lot!

Picture 55

The next one that I pulled out was the HD Fluid Blush. The only time I have ever really worn blush was when I did dance recitals. I never really saw the need to look flushed all the time with a pink powder. This, however, is a beautiful shade and goes on fluid. I love that it is not a powder and that it can be blended into your skin. It looks very natural and could be worn every day without a second glance as to why you were wearing blush.

Picture 56

The gloss is called Pink Oasis but is more on the purple side. Still a really pretty shade and it went on with a shimmer. I would wear this when I needed a little pop of color on my lips or perhaps a little sparkle on a night out.

Picture 57

My favorite that went on the smoothest and was a bold color was the Lauren Clark signature lip liner in Tipsy. I have never used lip liner so this was something new for me to play around with and try out. I really did like the way that it held the glosses that I tried with it in place. It was very easy to apply even for someone who does not use it every day.

Picture 58

Here is what the colors look like of everything. From top to bottom, it is exactly how they are listed here. Even though I have never really been a fan of pinks on me, this Starlooks box changed my mind! I love all the products that were in it and it is such a great value. If you are a makeup girl just like I am but haven't taken many chances outside of your comfort soon, I urge you to give the subscription to Starlooks a try. You won't be disappointed.

Picture 59

I really liked this box, and I will be interested to see what are in future boxes considering this was my first one. Be sure to let me know what you think and if you would ever give Starlooks a try?

Magic Warble Book Review and Giveaway

I had never heard of Victoria Simcox or any of her books until I won one of her books. I dove right into reading it and she is allowing me now to do my review and have a giveaway attached. She is offering 3 e-copies of the book, so make sure you get your entries in.

Synopsis:

Twelve-year-old Kristina Kingsly feels like the most unpopular girl in her school. The kids all tease her, and she never seems to fit in. But when Kristina receives an unusual Christmas gift, she suddenly finds herself magically transported to the land of Bernovem, home of dwarfs, gnomes, fairies, talking animals and the evil Queen Sentiz. In Bernovem, Kristina not only fits in, she's honored as "the chosen one," the only one who can release the land from Queen Sentiz's control. But it's not as simple as it seems. To save Bernovem, she must place the gift she was given, the famous "Magic Warble," in its final resting place. She must travel through the deep forest, climb a treacherous mountain, and risk capture by the queen's "zelbocks" before she reaches her destination. Guided by her new fairy friends, Clover and Looper and by Prince Werrien, a teenage boy, and an assortment of other characters, Kristina sets off on a perilous journey that not only tests her strength but her heart

Review:

I immediately fell in love with Kristina's character because I was that awkward girl when I was twelve. She doesn't seem to fit in with anyone her age and has formed a bond with her teacher. Her only real friend and confident is her pet rat, Raymond. This book has a great fantasy feel and is great for kids that are younger in age. Being 24, I also found myself engrossed in the story and trials and tribulations that it would take to get the magic warble to her destination in order to save Bernovem from Queen Sentiz. The Queen makes a great young readers villian. Anyone that came in contact with the warble is also transported to Bernovem, and even though they are not the nicest to Kristina in their world, you find yourself also rooting for them against the Queen and the zelbocks.

Every girl that feels like she doesn't fit in wants that satisfaction that she does indeed have a purpose. Kristina happened to find hers in a world that was nothing like her own.  There is also a love twist when Kristina meets Prince Werrien. It is that type of puppy love and infatuation that leaves you saying "Awwww." You remember back when you had that first sense of wanting a member of the opposite sex to like you just for who you were.

The land of Bernovem has gnomes, dwarfs, and fairies. I remember loving the Chronicles of Narnia when I was younger, and this is just like that for this generation of children. It has all the magic and fantasy a younger person would want. You become so engrossed in the story line and wanting the heroes to reach their destination that before you know it, the book is over, and you are wanting more!

I will definitely be starting in on the second book today, The Black Shard. Be on the lookout for that review very soon.

Crimson Flames Review

The follow up to Crimson Groves, Crimson Flames was just as great! About the book:

Half-vampire Abby Tate is determined to learn more about the sorceress powers that were awakened inside her when she was turned into a vampire—making her a whole new hybrid species. There’s a group of rogue vamps banding together and forming a Resistance against the vampire governing body, The Head Council, and Abby’s newly discovered powers are the key to the Council’s victory. Now the Resistance will do anything possible to remove the hybrid threat, and with no other options, Abby is forced to rely on the aid of the Council, yet can she trust the very vampires that hunt for her human lover? And even worse, can she fight the unwelcome attraction that’s growing between her and one of those ancient vampire rulers?

You can add this book to your GoodReads list by clicking  HERE.

My review is definitely late and it makes me feel so guilty not to have had it up sooner. With everything going on right now in my life things got even worse when my tire popped Saturday on my way home from work. Not a cheap fix, so I have been trying to get that taken care of as well as do some reviews for you all.
I really loves Abby's character. Many of you may be saying, yeah another vampire book, but it so isn't. Abby was turned into a vampire and then kidnapped and help captive by Bronx in the prequel to this book. Bronx turns out to be different than what he seems.  Abby has no idea that her mother was a vampire and also a sorceress. Abby is now starting to own her powers in this book more and figure out who she is and how powerful she can become.

Abby is very confused of what to do when it comes to Tyler, who is a human that she met in the first book.  She feels like he can be trusted even though he has betrayed her in the past.  Is love making her blind to what he really is like, however? She wants to prove his innocence.  Abby has to finally realize that Tyler is nothing but a liar and let him go. He reveals some secrets to her and it makes her so mad that she just wants to kill him then and there even though she is in love with him. Abby then meets back up with Trace and is surprised when she feels attracted to him when she goes to stay at the council. Trace lets her know that he does in fact want her back. He gives her her space which is nice and it is personally something that I think is even more attractive in a male. When he can trust you to do what you need to do and still come back to you without smothering you, you know that the love is truly there and always will be.

Towards the end Elliot helps Abby to get connected with her mother. Her mother is trying to help Abby improve on her skills and also allows her to know that she knows who is trying to kill Abby.

This book is amazing and has everything in it that someone would want out of a paranormal. It has love and conflict which tugs at the heart. I love a good paranormal book. They lead my imagination somewhere that it never would have gone before!

SnackTaxi Review

I was given the chance to try out Snack Taxi and I received a snack-sack. This little invention is so super convenient for car trips or anywhere out that you would want your child to tote a small snack. My son is always wanting something to snack on at the grocery store and I never had a good way to keep the snack until now. These little sacks are reusable and washable which makes it a penny saver on your wallet. You will not have to buy a whole lot of plastic snack bags. You can also trust that the snacks will not fall out of the bottom or the top during transport. The pattern that I was sent was the "plaidsportation". My little boy's eyes lit up when he first saw it and he wanted to know what it was!

Even before he knew it was meant to transport his snacks he would have readily played with this some other way just because the pattern was cool. They have all sorts of snack sacks that are not just made for kids. Snack Taxi also makes other items for storage that are reusable and washable. Such a cute way and idea to be green and frugal! Make sure that you check them out and get something for yourself.

You can like them on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest to give you more of an idea what they offer as well. Happy going green :)

Food For A Hungry Ghost Review

Life was pleasantly normal for Gala Rhyce—that is, until her mom moved the family to Flagler Beach, Florida. Now—despite the palm trees, ocean breezes, and cute surfer guys—Gala is miserable…until she meets Trista. Trista makes a great friend, except for one thing: she's a ghost.

The girls learn to communicate, and through Gala, Trista finds a way to experience the world again. As Gala’s romance with a heartthrob poet begins to bloom, her unlikely friendship with Trista continues—until the ghost wants more than Gala can give, and things start to go horribly wrong.

Filled with horror, romance, and humor, Food for a Hungry Ghost is about friendship, trust, jealousy, and boundaries that get pushed too far.

How much can Gala endure? Will she survive the clutches of the Hungry Ghost?

Let me just say that I have read a lot of ghost and haunting stories in my past. I love them all, but this one had all of it in one. Romance, humor, and horror. I was definitely wanting to read more about Gala and her ghost friend, Trista, at the end. I love that it is broken into parts instead of chapters. I always find that if I can read something straight through that I get more out of the story. The way that it was broken into parts was brilliant.  It was a fun and short read for an adult just wanting the thrill of a good ghost story. This book is also kid friendly, which is definitely a plus!

If you want to know more about the author, you can head on over to the blast and giveaway right here!

I guarantee that you will love it and you will not want to put it down.

Nuby USA Tickle Toes!!

This product will have your whole family laughing giggling. As soon as I took the tags off and started this little goody up for my 5 month old daughter she went ecstatic. There are tons of characters to choose from, although we got the bear! It is adorable and so soft and plush. Of course, my daughter was eating its foot before we could press the button to make the bear start giggling and laughing. My five year old son thinks that this is just the best, and we had to explain to him that he had a turtle that did the exact same thing when he was his sister's age. It thrills me that it is a toy that he and her can play together with and that they have the best time.

Here is the little bear in all his glory. He is so cute, right? I will show you the turtle that my son had when he was younger and is now retired and on to the next little one that will be enjoying him.

A family friend gave us him because we had nicknamed him Squirt, and of course the movie, Finding Nemo, was big when our son was born in 2008. I would love to have more of these for my daughter because she took to it like she had never lived without her bear.

Start of week 4 Proactiv Challenge

Okay so I have been super slacking this week, and I am just now getting this post up. Monday marked the beginning of week 4 of my Proactiv Challenge that I have been doing. I don't know if my skin is just getting used to the formula or if it's from the stress of trying to find a new place, but I am not really pleased with the results from last Monday until now.

Picture 22Picture 51

The top picture is from last Monday, and the bottom picture is from this morning. I really do not see much change whatsoever, and that kind of bums me out. At the end of this week it will be a whole month on the program and I guess we will see what happens.

Picture 50

Same applies, top picture is from last Monday and bottom picture is from this morning. I generally really do not see any improvement, and I use the Proactiv system religiously in the morning and at night. My face is still red and splotchy. I don't really have many bumps that are considered white or black heads which is a plus, but I would still not go out without any makeup on.

That is my goal with a skincare product that is supposed to reduce acne. I want to feel comfortable enough in my own skin to be able to not worry about makeup to feel like my skin is great if I am in a rush to go out and just simply don't have time to apply concealer or foundation.

Let me know your thoughts because I would be happy to know what you use to try and keep your skin looking blemish free, redness free, and healthy!

Carseat Canopy Review

I was lucky enough to win A Whole Carseat Caboodle made by Carseat Canopy from Mom 'N Daughter Savings. I won this only two months after my daughter, Rachel, was born so it was perfect timing. She was definitely hating the car seat and we couldn't figure out what else to do to make her more comfortable. She would act as if she was in pain, and to make matters worse the one that we had found for her at a decent price was a yucky dark and light brown. Unless we dressed her super feminine, people would always assume that she was a boy.

Pictured below is the Lovely print from Carseat Canopy, and it is absolutely beautiful. It is a super soft material and she now does not mind the ride in the car and we have no problems with people mistaking her for a little boy instead of a girl.

This of course is not my daughter, but the picture from the actual website. I could not get my daughter to smile for the life of me while she was in the seat or keep her legs still. It was always one or the other so the pictures were blurry or looked like we were torturing her for a picture. This baby in the picture was obviously a lot more cooperative.

The only thing I have yet to be able to use is the actual canopy or the cover. When we bought the used car seat there were no rods for a canopy top that came with it. We have to track those down in order to use either of these pieces, but overall my satisfaction with all the pieces that came with this cover is that I am amazed. They thought of everything!

If you want to add some pizzazz to your little one's ride I definitely recommend investing in one of these. They have styles for both boys and girls. Your little one will be riding in style. I actually had a woman tell me that my daughter looked like a princess in her seat and like she was in the lap of luxury while I was out shopping. That says it all!

Tiger Balm Review

I won Tiger Balm a while back and thought it would be perfect for my hubs to try on his sore muscles after work. As soon as we received it in the mail of course we gave it a shot. It has a very distinct smell to it, kind of like Icy Hot. My hubs was not a fan of it whatsoever just because of the smell, but it does do what it says an alleviates sore muscles. Therefore, I told him that he should continue to use it and maybe the smell would rub off on him eventually. I know some people that use products like this and it does not bother their senses after a while.
We gave that a shot and he eventually did get used to the smell and now that we have run out, he is lost without it for the relief that it gave him! For anyone that has neck and back problems from work, this is an outstanding product for that.

I hope to track it down again at a reasonable price so that we can stock up. I would also love to try their other products that they have in their line up.
